"The inspiration behind my art is in little hidden love notes to my mixed-raced, Chinese-Latina heritage. To celebrate what being Latina means to me, that our identity cannot be defined as just one thing, that all our heritage is mixed together from our backgrounds, experiences and family structures.
From my design studio name, Mezclao, which means mix together. Some of my favorite color combos in my work are inspired by biodiversity from tropical Panama. My favorite themes are found in my work as local fresh flavors, colorful flora and wild fauna.
Childhood nostalgia captured on my misbehaved botanical backdrops that remind me of my grandmother's garden. Her plants are a collection of misbehaved resilient plants that grow wherever they choose, are always colorful, full of textures and create their own world."
