Lara Meintjes is a South African illustrator, happily living in Oakland, California while she is working towards a PhD at UC Berkeley. She is particularly interested in color and is delighted by the millions of sneaky tigers she has included in her paintings over the years. She can usually be found drinking tea and occasionally, completely accidentally, paint water. She wishes she smoked a pipe.

My work deals with portraying the tension between the hyper-masculine looking male with more playful, elegant, and even feminine styles. So while you may see an incredibly chiseled male body, pay attention to the subtleties in the way he is positioned, his hands, or where he is looking.
