ABOUT THE ART
My artist statement for the work is that I'm trying to convey my idea about the fluidity of gender. It all started with the idea that I see gender as a very fluid thing. My life has been heavily influenced by Van Burnham "currently an androgynous model" and I personally try to support GBLT agendas as well as Transsexuals and anyone trying to be them self. Whether the person is content with their physical being or not I would like to see the a world in which people could express themselves fully without ridicule and a fear of being out cast. I think the boundaries we have as a society and even to some degree humanity is silly. I think it should be perfectly acceptable for foot ball players to wear pink attire without needing a cause. The same with woman wearing pants. Its silly that we suppress our beings to the point where we aren't ourselves anymore. The painting itself expresses this idea I believe with its use of color and fresh fluidity of the paint. It was done in a with spontaneity to try and let the unconscious self out and to let the true self emerge. Artist that have influenced my work are Jackson Pollock, Julie Mehretu and Agnes-Cecile.
