Two horseshoe crabs rendered in detailed stippled ink occupy a cream ground, their shells articulated with careful cross-hatching that reveals the creatures' segmented anatomy and spiny undersides. The composition balances the creatures vertically, with one positioned upright and the other inverted, creating a naturalistic study that suggests scientific observation paired with careful draftsmanship.
