A lush jungle garden erupts across a vivid red ground, densely layered with oversized proteas, birds of paradise, eucalyptus leaves, reeds, and ferns in shades of turquoise, coral, cream, and sage green. The composition balances organic botanical forms with geometric patterning, creating a richly textured landscape that feels both wild and meticulously orchestrated. Lara Meintjes is a South African illustrator, happily living in Oakland, California while she is working towards a PhD at UC Berkeley. She is particularly interested in color and is delighted by the millions of sneaky tigers she has included in her paintings over the years. She can usually be found drinking tea and occasionally, completely accidentally, paint water. She wishes she smoked a pipe.
