Description
Four serpents in varying patterns and colors wind through cream parchment, flanked by delicate green botanical sprigs that frame the composition with naturalistic precision. The snakes range from rust-red to deep blue, rendered in the careful hand-colored style of 18th-century natural history illustration, each species distinct in marking and posture. At home in a naturalist's study or a gallery celebrating scientific illustration and natural wonder. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
