Writhing nude figures tumble through a dark, infernal void rendered in warm ochres, burnt oranges, and deep browns, their muscular bodies twisted and intertwined in anguished motion. Rubens applies thick, gestural brushwork to capture the chaotic energy of divine punishment, with flesh tones glowing against shadowy depths to create a visceral scene of spiritual torment.
