Loves: typography, hand-lettering, cold brew coffee, spending time with my family, old houses, mid century modern design, and helping people grow closer to Jesus

YEAR 27 In 2012, my birthday fell on 12-12-12. I think thought this was really cool. A recurring thought: wouldn’t it be cool to DO SOMETHING different for my 28th birthday? I prayed about what this would be — and I spent YEAR 27 doing a few things:

-- Sponsoring translation of a book of the Bible into another language. Partnering with Seed Company, we worked to raise money to translate the equivalent of the book of John into the heart language of the Ehty people (not their actual name — they are a heavily persecuted people group) in South Asia. We were able to translate over 879 verses (over $22,000)! -- I blogged a custom, hand lettered verse everyday for a whole year! -- I celebrated! On Dec. 12, 2012, we had a HUGE party for YEAR 27. Over 75 people gathered at a local coffee shop to see all of the verses on this blog on display in printed form AND we raised A LOT of money to translate the Bible.
