In order to receive healing we must share healing. —Alyson Handelman, Mandala Artist and Owner of Mandalas by Alyson

Mandalas are sacred circle images that represent the symbol of unity, balance, and eternity. They are often used medicinally, as a method of spiritual healing. Mandala art is prevalent in most cultures throughout the world from Tibetan sand paintings, Hindu and Buddhist mandalas, Native American medicine wheels, and European labyrinths.

Throughout history, people have facilitated spiritual transformation, personal growth and self-expression by regarding and creating mandalas. Their meditative visual qualities and therapeutic energies and have been used as healing tools to aid in stress reduction, pain management, and recovery from addiction.

Not long ago I was suffering from depression and anxiety. I purchased a mandala coloring book as a way to meditate. When the book arrived, I grabbed my daughter’s crayons and started coloring. I wasn’t in love with any of the designs in the book so I began to create my own.

More than 80 mandalas later, I’ve become hooked! I have experienced tremendous positive physical and psychological benefits from creating mandalas for myself and for others. I firmly believe they are instruments of healing. In order to receive healing we must share healing. This site has given me the forum to share my “medicine” with all of you.
