German Vazquez

Hi, I’m German Ayala Vazquez, a Bayamon, Puerto Rico-born, NYC-raised, Philly-based photographer and visual artist.

I use fashion, conceptual, and photojournalistic approaches to elevate the many BIPOC LGBTQTT+ stories and experiences around the world, particularly in colonized regions. My unique voice and vision helps brands and publishers communicate with an authentic eye. Recent editorial and commercial clients include Apple, Barrons Magazine, Dow Jones, Smithsonian Magazine, Shutterstock, amongst others.

Since getting my BFA in photography from the University of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA, I have won awards and grants from Profoto, Nikon, Creative PHL, and Wacom, and was a finalist for the 2022 Lensculture Portrait awards. I have been featured in multiple publications including Vogue Italia, Fluid Culture, Hunger Magazine.

My personal work has been widely exhibited, most notably in the British Journal of Photography’s 2021 Home Exhibition, Lenscratch, Humble Arts Foundation, and Jardín Del Pecado through two concurrent solo exhibitions in San Juan and Philadelphia.
