I’m Lauren Criswell. I’m a Graphic Designer and Artist based in Oklahoma City.

I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2019, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Visual Communication Design. My background began in the fine arts of painting and drawing, developing later into an interest for design. During my time at SAIC, I found I most enjoyed the art that existed around me in my daily life: the art I saw on posters, billboards, logos, branding, packaging, clothing and more. I discovered that my true interest wasn’t in art made for contemporary museums or galleries. It was in the applied arts, commercial art, and design. What I love about design is that it solves a problem and serves a clear function. For the designer, it sets up a task and a challenge on how to communicate most effectively with an audience and how to convey someone else's vision. It’s bringing an artistic and creative vision to life to serve a function in the world where I found my specialty in brand identity and print design.

My personal art and design style encompasses a structural work approach shaped by an eye for detail and aesthetics. I draw most inspiration from nature and organic patterns, creating designs that hold a delicate and decorative character. Whether I'm creating a full range of marketing materials for a brand or traditional artwork for a home, my goal is to always create work that serves a purpose.
