Description

Three cranes wade through lush green foliage against a warm golden ground in this two-panel composition, rendered in the delicate illustrative style of 16th century Japanese art. The birds are depicted with naturalistic grace, their long necks and slender legs conveying quiet elegance, while layered greens and mossy details suggest a serene wetland habitat infused with the luminous warmth of aged gold leaf.
