A Chesapeake blue crab is rendered in loose, expressive brushstrokes across a weathered ground of pale blue and golden ochre, with deep navy and burnt orange defining its claws and shell. The vertical streaking and layered color create a sense of movement and decay, as if the crab emerges from or dissolves into the textured surface beneath it.
