Two green herons occupy a marshy composition rendered in soft watercolor and hand-colored engraving, one perched alertly among cattails and aquatic plants while the other stretches upward toward a pale yellow flower. The artist captures their russet and olive plumage with meticulous naturalistic detail, anchoring the birds within a low horizon of grasses and water that grounds the scene in quiet observation. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
