Description
A towering mechanical elephant serves as the base for an ornate festival structure, its body adorned with intricate geometric patterns in warm oranges, reds, and golds, while stacked pavilions and decorative barges rise from its back complete with tiny figures and fluttering flags. The composition balances whimsical engineering with meticulous detail, rendered in delicate watercolor and ink with a pale celadon ground that evokes classical East Asian decorative arts. At home in a curiosity cabinet, study, or gallery celebrating imaginative engineering and cultural art history. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
