A vibrant classical urn overflowing with red proteas, white king proteas, and lush green foliage sits against a rich cobalt blue ground, its terracotta body adorned with a prancing black horse motif. The composition balances botanical exuberance with geometric restraint, rendered in painterly strokes that layer vivid color and decorative pattern across a darkened floral base. Lara Meintjes is a South African illustrator, happily living in Oakland, California while she is working towards a PhD at UC Berkeley. She is particularly interested in color and is delighted by the millions of sneaky tigers she has included in her paintings over the years.
