Description
A richly detailed illustration depicts a bustling colonial-era wharf in Salem, Massachusetts, with multi-story brick buildings, sailing ships with complex rigging, barrels, cargo, and numerous figures engaged in maritime commerce. The composition combines warm ochres, deep reds, and browns throughout the architecture and vessels, rendered in a meticulous hand-drawn style with accompanying explanatory text and a small map diagram below the main scene. At home in a history office, study, or maritime enthusiast's library. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
