A deep indigo ground is overlaid with a precise grid of white lines and crosses, creating a geometric shibori pattern achieved through the Japanese itajime resist-dyeing technique. The composition alternates between solid dark blue rectangles and intersecting white marks with softly diffused edges, suggesting the natural variation that occurs when folded fabric resists the dye. Precision-cut from thick, satin-finish paperboard and made to order, in 500 or 1,000 pieces. An afternoon spent building an independent artist's work.
