Description
Four botanical specimens of algae and corallines are arranged in a gridded composition, rendered in delicate pen and watercolor with golden and sepia tones dominating the upper and lower right specimens while the others remain as refined line drawings. The naturalistic study captures the intricate branching structures and organic forms of marine plant life with scientific precision, evoking the careful observation practices of 19th-century natural history illustration. At home in a study, library, or curiosity cabinet inspired by vintage naturalism. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
