Pink lilies with spotted petals rise from a decorative white swan vase rendered in delicate line work, their blooms glowing against a deep indigo and black background streaked with gestural brushstrokes. Lara Meintjes is a South African illustrator, happily living in Oakland, California while she is working towards a PhD at UC Berkeley. She is particularly interested in color and is delighted by the millions of sneaky tigers she has included in her paintings over the years.
