Description
A squat toad rendered in mottled gray tones dominates this composition, its textured skin rendered with careful stippling and line work against a warm cream ground. The frog's enormous circular belly is left blank and white, while its downturned mouth curves into an unmistakable frown, creating an expression of sullen displeasure, with a red seal stamp marking the upper left corner in the style of classical Japanese printmaking. At home in a gallery space celebrating animals and expressive character studies. Made to order by hand at our own Denver facility, it arrives as nine wood panels, each a half-inch thick with a keyhole on the back so it hangs easily. The natural grain shows through the artwork, so no two come out exactly alike.
