(Mikoazule) Noelle Correia Biography. Born in Fresno, California (1977). After spending time tinkering around at her father’s auto repair/welding shop as a kid, Noelle began to create an imaginary world out of carpenters chalk drawings and discarded car parts. This world turned the industrial environment of downtown Fresno into a delusional paradise. Noelle left Fresno at eighteen but took her imaginary world with her upon her escape. Fresno folklore and blue-collar living continue to inform Noelle's 2D mixed media work. After taking a trip to Brazil and coming home with a lifelong souvenir (her daughter) she then moved to Santa Cruz, Ca. where she completed a degree in Cultural Anthropology pursued her love of art-making and dance. Noelle interweaves the subject matter of Cultural Anthropology and Creative Expression in both her artwork and Arts Education curriculum design. Noelle brings a cross-cultural experience to art education, using art as a medium to explore everything from history, mathematics to human behavior and emotion. The pedagogy that Noelle employs in her art classes focuses on mindful art education, technique, and creative expression. Noelle has taught art for over five years in the Pajaro Valley Unified school district, Santa Cruz Montessori School, Orchard School, The Art Factory, and through the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County. Noelle holds an MFA From CIIS in San Francisco and currently works out of the Tannery Arts Center.
